I was told that even an operation wouldn’t help, only a heart transplant could save my daughter, but in Russia, transplants for children are prohibited. In spite of everything, Ksenia is growing and actively exploring the world. She crawls and even tries to walk, but gets tired quickly. When she lies down on her side, her breathing gets heavy... My husband takes whatever work he can to pay for trips to Moscow, for medications, for evaluations. But Ksenia’s condition is getting worse. On the x-ray, my baby’s heart is huge and looks like a ball. Ksenia’s case was turned down by hospitals in Italy, Israel, and Germany. We’re almost desperate. Professor Natalia Kotlukova, Pediatric Cardiologist, Perinatal Cardiac Center, City Hospital No. 67 (Moscow) says: "Ksenia has severe pathology of the heart, it is greatly enlarged, her blood circulation is impaired. She is now on maintenance therapy, it’s the most we can do. The surgical treatment proposed by the Children's Hospital of Cincinnati (USA), is Ksenia’s only chance, the only possibility to save her heart without a transplant".
