An American Hospital Will Admit Ksenia Nechaeva in July

On July 2nd here on this site, we told the story of Ksenia Nechaeva, a one-year-oldgirl from St.Petersburg. Kseniahas a congenital heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She needs open-heart surgery at the Children's Hospital of Cincinnati (USA). The cost of the treatment is $502,696.The Nechaev family will also need an additional $8,000 in support during their stay in the US. But the Nechaev family doesn’t have anywhere near this amount of money. We are happy to announce that the Russian Aid Foundation has stepped in to help and all the necessary funds have been raised. Individual donors from the US, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, Israel, Ireland, and other countries have contributed to cover Ksenia and her mother’s accommodations, local transportation, food and other associated expenses in America. Ksenia will be admitted to the hospital in July. Ksenia’s family thanks everyone who has helped. Dear friends, please accept our gratitude as well.

A girl with a huge heart

Surgery can save Ksenia Nechaeva `s life at the Children's Hospital of Cincinnati

Ksenia Nechaeva, 1 year, complex congenital heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, needs open-heart surgery at the Children's Hospital of Cincinnati (USA). $8,000.

Ксюша НечаеваAt the maternity hospital when they told me that my baby has a complex heart defect, I asked in fear: "Only an operation will help?" I was told that even an operation wouldn’t help, only a heart transplant could save my daughter, but in Russia, transplants for children are prohibited. They gave my daughter weeks, at best, maybe a few months to live. In St. Petersburg, we couldn’t even find a doctor who would monitor her case. We only found one in Moscow. In spite of everything, Ksenia is growing and actively exploring the world. She crawls and even tries to walk, but gets tired quickly. When she lies down on her side, her breathing gets heavy... My husband takes whatever work he can to pay for trips to Moscow, for medications, for evaluations. But Ksenia’s condition is getting worse. On the x-ray, my baby’s heart is huge and looks like a ball. Ksenia’s case was turned down by hospitals in Italy, Israel, and Germany. We’re almost desperate. And here is our last chance: an American hospital, which has long studied this disease, is ready to accept us. The operation costs an unimaginable sum! Please help! We can never collect this on our own. Anna Nechaeva, St. Petersburg.

To save one-year-old Ksenia Nechaeva $8,000 is needed.

Professor Natalia Kotlukova, Pediatric Cardiologist, Perinatal Cardiac Center, City Hospital No. 67 (Moscow) says: "Ksenia has severe pathology of the heart, it is greatly enlarged, her blood circulation is impaired. She is now on maintenance therapy, it’s the most we can do. The surgical treatment proposed by the Children's Hospital of Cincinnati (USA), is Ksenia’s only chance, the only possibility to save her heart without a transplant".

Professor David Morales, Head of Cardiovascular Surgery, Department of Cardiology at the Children's Hospital of Cincinnati (USA): "We are ready to treat Ksenia. We hope that after evaluating her, we will be able to perform surgery to reconstruct the output portion of the right ventricle and the muscles of the left ventricle and also reconstruct the aortic and mitral valves. Our hospital has a lot of experience in the surgical treatment of cardiomyopathy. I think we can also help Ksenia".

The cost of Ksenia’s surgery is $502,696. Rusfond helped raise the funds needed. 29th of July Ksenia is expected at the hospital. But another $8,000 is needed for accommodation, food, transportation and other associated expenses for Ksenia and her parents while in the United States.

Dear friends! If you decide to help Ksenia, then please don’t let the cost stop you. Your donation in any amount will be gratefully accepted. You can contribute to Rusfond USA using PayPal or by sending a check made payable to “Rusfond USA” to Rusfond USA, 420 Lexington Avenue, Suite 300, New York, NY 10170. Thank you.
