Ksenia has a new heart

On February 5th 2016 here on this site, we told the story of Ksenia Nechaeva, a girl from St.Petersburg. Ksenia has a congenital heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She needed a heart transplant at the Children’s Hospital of Cincinnati (USA). We are happy to announce that $10,000 has been raised by Rusfond USA donors to cover Ksenia and her family’s accomodations in America. After the transplant Ksenia and her family still need to live in America, near the hospital for a whole year. Ksenia’s family thanks everyone who has helped. Dear friends, please accept our gratitude as well.

We would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who has offered support to little Ksenia and to our whole family. We still can’t believe it ourselves that it happened after two years and three months of waiting. We are, of course, very excited, but guardedly so as there are many things that we have to go through ahead before we can say with confidence that the transplant was successful. The operation lasted five hours – from two o’clock in the morning until seven in the morning. Every hour one of the doctors would come out to tell us how things were going. Thank God there was good news every time. At eight o’clock, the surgeon came out and told us that Ksenia’s new heart (a little strange and scary to even say it) is working well. We were touched that the surgeon allowed Ksenia to wear her cross during the surgery. He said that was as important to him as to us. They’ve started giving Ksenia medication by mouth instead of intravenously – 15 different drugs per day. After a year, if all goes well, it will be reduced to around 5 that she’ll have to take regularly. Ksenia’s smart: tolerates everything, listens, behaved perfectly before surgery, and even sang a song for the nurses. With God’s help, we will continue on the road to recovery. We try to deal with everything ourselves, but after the transplant we will still need to live in America, near the hospital for a whole year. Please help us pay for housing.

To save 3-years-old Ksenia $10,000 is needed.

$10,000 is needed for housing for Ksenia’s well-being while she is in the United States. Dear friends! If you decide to help Ksenia, then please do not let the cost stop you. Transplant cardiologist Ivan Wilmot, Department of Cardiology at the Children's Hospital of Cincinnati (USA): " It has been our pleasure to get to know and care for Ksenia over the past couple of years. She has awaited a heart transplant patiently for over two years. We were very excited recently to provide Ksenia and her family with the good news. Last week, an appropriate donor heart was identified. She underwent a complex 6 hour heart transplant operation. She tolerated the procedure well without any complications. She and her family are both doing well at this time. She will require very close monitoring of her new heart, and will need to remain in the local Cincinnati, OH area for the next 1 year".
