Thank you for helping to pay for Lera’s surgery at the American hospital. Prior to that, Lera had unsuccessfully been operated in Israel and Germany. Not having achieved the desired results, doctors recommended amputation. We couldn’t bring ourselves to do this. On the internet, we found the only doctor who tries to fight children's ectromelia (underdevelopment of limbs.) At that time, the German and Israeli doctors eliminated some of the rougher defects, but our daughter’s right leg was shorter than the left by eight centimeters, she could not walk. Last year, thanks to the funds you donated, Dr. Dror Paley performed surgery on Lera’s leg. Unfortunately, mobility was not restored to the knee joint. And without it, it's pointless to correct deformations of the other bones. The doctor insists on a second operation. This is the only chance to save Lera’s leg, but the bill is too much for us. Please help again, please!

Anna Gaivoronskaya, Moscow.

To save three-year-old Lera 7,575 USD is needed.

The cost of Lera’s treatment is 93,694 USD. We are happy to report that Rusfond has raised the entire amount needed. However, an additional 7,575 USD is required for her and her mother’s accommodations, food, local transportation, and other associated expenses for the duration of their stay in the USA.

Dear friends! If you want to help Lera please don't let the cost stop you. Your donation in any amount will be gratefully accepted. You can contribute to Rusfond USA using PayPal or by sending a check made payable to Rusfond USA and mailing it to Rusfond USA, 420 Lexington Avenue, Suite 300, New York, NY 10170. Thank you! All donations in excess of what is needed for Lera will help other children in need of surgery.

Orthopedic surgeon of St. Mary's Hospital (West Palm Beach, USA) Dr. Paley: "Due to the anatomical complexity of the defect in the knee joint, a relapse occurred. To prevent deterioration, an emergency operation is required. We will try to put the joint in the right position. The operation is unplanned, but without it further treatment is ineffective."
