In October, we noticed that Maxim's left eye had a strange glow. At first, doctors thought he had a cataract, but a more detailed examination showed that it was a tumor. And when we arrived in St. Petersburg for treatment, it became clear that there was a tumor in the right eye too. They could not save our son's left eye, the optic nerve had been damaged, and his eye had to be removed. Maxim now has a prosthetic eye. All our efforts are now directed at saving the other eye, because the discussion is about removing it as well. The vision in Maxim's right eye is getting worse. He is being given chemotherapy and, as a result, the tumor has decreased a bit. But the situation is still dangerous. We've urgently been searching for a place to get help. And it turns out that a cancer center in New York is considered to be one of the best hospitals for treating retinoblastoma. Their comprehensive treatment is aimed precisely at preserving the organs of vision. Relatives and even complete strangers helped us raise money to fly to the United States and be evaluated. But we need additional funds for medical treatment. Please help us save not only our son's eyesight, but also his life! He is our only son. Yevgeny Frolov, Buryatia.

$93,000 is needed to save Maxim Frolov.

A Dangerous Situation

David H. Abramson, Chief, Ophthalmic Oncology Service, Department of Surgery, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (New York):"We offer a treatment plan that will be conducted under the constant supervision of an ophthalmologist. After a thorough medical examination, we can remove the retinal lesions, and apply cryotherapy (cold exposure), diathermy (heat therapy), photocoagulation (laser therapy) and intra-arterial chemotherapy. Hopefully, this will help save Maxim’s other eye and his vision."

Maxim Frolov was again examined at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (New York, USA). Here’s what the boy's father Evgeni Frolov wrоte to us: "We have good news. On September 10th Dr. David Abramson examined Max. The cancer cells in Max’s right eye have died. We hope that soon our son’s eyesight will return. According to the doctor, the retina is completely healthy, but so far only a portion of it works. Now Maxim is gradually turning into that same boy he was before the illness. Cheerful, mischievous, agile; he talks a lot, he’s interested in everything. He makes us very happy! And of course, we do our best to make him comfortable. The next follow-up exam is in two months. This time Maxim will go with his mom. Thank you very much for your help and for caring! God bless you! "
